I'm also a huge sci-fi/fantasy geek who grew up watching Star Trek: The Next Generation, will try most sci-fi shows at least once, and loves getting together with friends for some table-top gaming. My other big passion is chocolate. Don't be surprised to see these all end up in my posts, possibly together! ;-)Unknownnoreply@blogger.comBlogger32125truetag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3511885639003002915.post-247989608303239872013-11-28T10:06:00.004-08:002013-11-28T10:06:59.134-08:00AwarenessThere's a certain threshold of awareness that once you pass it, you can't stop your brain. Wow. Not many of the series I read come to a definite end. Kelley Armstrong has pulled off a great finish to a fantastic series. Savanna has grown a lot over the course of the series, not just physically but also mentally and emotionally. This book, like the last, mostly focuses on her.
My least favorite thing about this book? That it's Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3511885639003002915.post-27301681513360424592013-02-27T21:28:00.001-08:002013-02-27T21:28:32.126-08:00Spell Bound ReviewWaking the Witch saw Savannah heading out on her own as a detective for the first time. She became emotionally attached to one of the people she met during the case she was working, a little girl named Kayla. The last thing Savannah does in the book is think that she'd happily give up her powers to help Kayla, crashing asleep and waking up to find that her powers were indeed gone.

My goal is to engage in physical activity at least 3 times a week. This can be an exercise video, a Kinect game, my physical therapy, a one mile bike ride or walk, as long as I move for 15 minutes or more, etc. At the end of the week, if I meet my goal, IUnknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3511885639003002915.post-80634429056648462812012-10-24T20:38:00.003-07:002012-10-24T20:38:36.495-07:00Epiphanies Come From the Strangest PlacesI've been reading this blog called Mark Reads, specifically his chapter by chapter reviews of one of my all time favorite series, which just happen to be the books that started me reading fantasy in the first place, The Song of the Lioness Quartet by Tamora Pierce. I support all of those folks who have come out and all of those folks who haven't, for whatever reason. Coming out as bi, gay, poly, trans, or anything else isn't easy. Pegging (for those unfamiliar with the word) is the term used for a female bodied person penetrating a male bodied person anally using a strap-on dildo.
Tristan Taormino's Expert's Guide to Pegging was her Valentine's gift to the world this year, and I just love how she introduces the topic, and how she talks
about the fears people may have about pegging.

Women of the Otherworld series covers a lot of ground in just a few
books and bringing Eve into the picture shows just how much it covers.

Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.

Paige is finally growing up and becoming an actual person, instead of living the life others expect of her. The evolution of the characters is almost tangible. It also introduces her to the wider world of supernaturals she never knew existed.

Were-creatures, vampires, magic users and gods and demons showing up and mingling in our everyday world? What's not to love? I can't pinpoint where my love of urban fantasy started, but I know who has fostered it: Laurell K Hamilton, Simon R Green and Mercedes Lackey are just a few that spring to mind. Sometimes this is a blessing, because each touch can feel like something so much more. Sometimes this is a curse, because I can't wear polyester or rough woven cloth of any kind. Wool is not my friend. My skin gets irritated very easily and I scar like there's no tomorrow. Most women I know have been taught from a young age that they will have a yearly exam that includes checking their breast and vaginal health, but we don't really talk about it openly. It's an important part of our general health, but gods forbid we talk openly about something that keeps us in the know about the Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3511885639003002915.post-71923677791557236292012-01-04T15:45:00.000-08:002012-01-04T15:45:03.879-08:00Sorry about the absence...Wow. It encourages teens to have sex and makes it impossible for them to be good, God-fearing people. This shit just plain pisses me off. Planned Parenthood isn't evil, it isn't encouraging kids to have sex. Planned Parenthood has one main mission, encompassed by the name of the organization itselfUnknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3511885639003002915.post-79117070135879190292011-08-29T19:25:00.000-07:002011-08-29T19:25:10.589-07:00Warning to Guys: Menstural Talk AheadThis has been working for me. In February I decided to try something new for my period, Softcups! It's a disposable cup that you use for 12ish hours, depending on your flow, instead of a tampon or pad. I gotta tell you that I love them.
You've got to be fairly comfortable with your body to use these and they're not going to work for everyone, but they work wonderfully for me!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3511885639003002915.post-14510098820389511212011-08-29T12:47:00.000-07:002011-08-29T12:47:04.640-07:00Where is the line?I often find myself wondering if I've crossed the line with some people. I spend so much of my time pushing my own boundaries when it comes to sex that I sometimes fear that I've gone too far with my friends.
Add to this my personal belief that sex can be just another expression of friendship and it just becomes even more confusing. I also have to admit that I fail in doing so a lot more than I really want people to know. I let society get to me more than I want to admit to myself, let alone everyone else. Expert's Guide to Advanced Anal Sex is a great combination of information and titillating action. As usual for her work, Taormino starts off with a lot of great information, covering the basic information needed to make anal sex fun and safe, including enemas, lube and the different positions that can be used.

I've recently realized how much of a burden taking birth control pills really are. I can't sleep in as late as I want, because I have to make sure that I take my pill in the right window then it's not as effective, which means courting pregnancy. Pregnancy is something I really don't want to court. I had one pregnancy scare when in high school and that's enough for me, thanks!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3511885639003002915.post-38403392452742421862011-07-26T14:45:00.000-07:002011-07-26T14:46:31.243-07:00Sacred SexualitySpirituality and sexuality are very closely linked for me. The idea of sacred sexuality isn't one that sits well in our modern world, especially in the very WASPy USA in which I live. I've been trying to navigate my way to something lately and I think it might be time to really work on embracing all elements of sacred sexuality. The question is how to do that.
